Although
situated in an oasis of calm, Kawaha
Point Lodge is only a 5 minute drive
from Rotorua city centre, and a
15 minute ride from the cities’
airport.
For visitors who’d rather
not leave the haven of the lodge,
there are plenty of recreational
activities to enjoy with on-site
activities including swimming, a
sauna, petanque, croquet, lake cruises
and even a private Maori cultural
concert performance on the lawns*.
Three eighteen-hole golf courses
are also located nearby.
For those who like to explore further
afield, an air safari will whisk
you to the landscapes that made
NZ world-famous including the region’s
famed volcanoes and wild ‘Lord
of the Rings’ scenery. A special
‘extra’, is the float
plane that lands on Lake Rotorua
to collect you directly from the
lodge’s private jetty and
take you to either White Island
or on a trip to see the scenic sights
of the region. Helicopter sightseeing
on arrival & departure from
the property can also be arranged
and a heli-pad is on site.
The jetty also provides the starting
point for another signature Kawaha
Lodge experience, fishing for the
lake’s famed rainbow trout
with Blair or Murray Watson. Both
renowned fishermen and local guides,
they will take you to the best fishing
spots and ultimately your catch
can be vacuum packed, served for
dinner or even mounted!
Ultimately your hosts welcome enquiries
and are happy to give guidance or
advice on a wide range of activities
(including walks, bird watching,
riding, hunting, skydiving), before
your arrival to help maximise your
leisure time.
*
the Maori cultural concerts do need
to be pre-arranged with the hosts.
